Open House Gig.

I have been following Mark Geary for a few years now after I stumbled upon his music on youtube. I was quick to tweet him and ask if he had any plans to tour in the near future, to which he replied and unfortunately did not.

Recently, in the middle of a late night music and drinking session with my house mate I put on a Mark Geary song and explained this story. My housemate suggested that we google if he was touring and to my great surprise he was! We sent an email at about 2am on a Saturday night and received a very quick, warm and friendly response on the Sunday!

Now we had secured two tickets to the gig we soon came to realise that this was no ordinary gig. It was to take place in a house in north London!

Not too sure what to expect we travelled down from Leeds and then from south west to north London and it was worth the milage. Armed with our bottles of white zinfandel (yes, we could even byo!) we arrived.

The atmosphere was wonderful, the people lovely. The concept is just the perfect way to enjoy the music. You are in a comfortable, intimate environment. A delightful change from being squashed up against a barrier in pain whilst people are dripping their sweat onto you. Instead we were sat on a sofa, drinking our own wine, free to enjoy the music.

Your not being constantly shoved in the back by the person who believes they truly are the bigger fan because they have definitely listened to the song more times than you, and yes! Of course they know all the words better than you do.

Mark accompanied by Grainne Hunt was supported by Kenneth J Nash and Dan Wilde which introduced us to some fantastic new music. My housemate and I were particularly struck by Dan Wilde's song 'Previous Experience' as the lyrics rang very true.

Overall it was a fantastic evening and such a wonderful concept. I would strongly recommend looking at the Facebook page to see if there is anything near to you or something of interest.
